The Extended Producer Responsibility imposes a variety of legal responsibilities on producers. These obligations include not only the WEEE, battery, and packaging requirements adopted from European legislation. In addition to other waste streams, French law makes furniture and textile manufacturers accountable for collecting, treating, and recycling their waste products.

The National Environmental Commitment Act of 2010 states that "every natural or legal person that produces, imports, or sells furniture goods on the market is responsible for collection and waste processing at the end of the product's life cycle." This law applies the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle to the furniture sector.

According to article R. 541-10-1 10° of the Code de l'environnement, anybody who sells furniture on the French market is required to register.

I am an Amazon seller and I have received an EPR registration reminder from Amazon. What should I do?

Answer:
On January 1, 2022, Amazon will require all French market vendors to be EPR compliant. If you have received a reminder for EPR registration, then you must complete the following:
Determine whether the items produced or sold are compliant with the EPR commodity category;
Verify that the products manufactured or sold covers several categories;
Calculate the number of relevant stores that must be reported;
Register the relevant regulations and place appropriate markings to the items and packaging, and declare items regularly
Complete the registration form on the platform. Be sure to have your registration certification and registration number on hand.
