Italy Cuts Its VAT Rates on Certain Goods in 2023



The value added tax in Italy

The value added tax in Italy was lowered on items including face masks, baby wipes, and feminine hygiene products. The value-added tax rate has been reduced to 5% for the following items:


Products for the care and maintenance of women's personal hygiene infant- and toddler-specific items, such as diapers, car seats, and foods.


Protective equipment, such as face masks, and other items related to the battle against COVID-19.


Additionally, district heating services will continue to enjoy the lower VAT rate of 5% during the first quarter of 2023. As a result, this lower VAT rate will be in effect for the months of January, February, and March of 2023. Find the official declaration here.
